Note the use of quotation marks: the query editor:"emmanuel francis" matches all documents edited by Emmanuel Francis, but the query editor:emmanuel francis matches all documents edited by someone called Emmanuel and that also include the name Francis in any metadata field.
The "lang" field is special. If you look for a string that contains two or three letters only, as in lang:en or lang:san, it is assumed to refer to an ISO 639 language code, and an exact comparison is performed. If you look for a string longer than that, it is assumed to refer to a language name and the above-mentioned substring matching technique will be used instead. You can consult a table of languages here.

Summary: This records an endowment of a vēli of land for the maintenance of a hall (ambalam) erected by him at Chandralēkhai-chaturvēdimaṅgalam, a brahmadēya in Ārkkāṭṭu-kūṟṟam, by Vayiramēgam Piḍāraṉ of Veṇṇāyil in Mīyśeṅgiḷi-nāḍu, after purchasing it tax-free from the Peruṅguṟi-sabhā of the place. The land was allotted in certain specified proportions for the following services in the ambalam: supply of drinking water (to the wayfarers) during summer, keeping the premises clean, supply of oil for a lamp, supply of earthen pots (for the water-shed); and for general periodical repairs. Vayiramēga was a surname of the Pallava king Dantivarman. This is probably a record of Āditya I (M.E.R. 1916, II, 7).

Summary: The inscription is built in in the middle. It seems to register the sale of some land by the ūrār (assembly) of Kaḷakkāṭṭūr in Āmūr-kōṭṭam, to Araiyaṉ Tillaikkūttaṉ alias Rājarāja-Aṇimuri-Nāḍāḷvāṉ who probably endowed it to the temple under the name Kalaikaḷābharaṇaṉ. The shrines of Kāḍugāḷ (Piḍāri) and Śāttaṉ (Śāstā) evidently situated within this land are specifically excluded in the transaction. The surname of the donor suggests that the inscription may belong to Rājarāja I.

Summary: This records an endowment of ten mā of land for the maintenance of a gardener who was to look after a flower-garden of śiṟuśeṇbagam (champak) laid out by one Tiruveṇkāṭṭu-Pichchaṉ, by the sabhā and ūr of Tiraimūr in co-ordination with the nagarattār of Tiruviḍaimarudil and the patipādamūlattār (of the same village). Tiruveṇkāṭṭu-Pichchaṉ figures in the same capacity in No. 249 of 1907 of the time of Parakēsari ‘who took the head of the Pāṇḍya’ (Āditya II Karikāla). The record may be one of Parāntaka II Sundara-Chōḷa.

Summary: The inscription opens with two verses in Sanskrit which are damaged, and which mention the heroic achievements in Siṁhaḷa (Ceylon) of a Bāṇa chief (name lost) ‘the ornament of Bali-kula’, and also refer to the daughter of Arikulakēsari. It records an endowment made by this princess, called Ariñjigai-Pirāṭṭiyār and the wife of the Bāṇa, for the conduct of worship and offerings and for burning 2 lamps during the three services every day to god Amarasundaradēva set up by her-probably in memory of her husband-in the temple at Tirunāgēśvaram, a dēvadāna in Tiraimūrnāḍu on the southern bank. Details of items required for each service are also given. As the record is incomplete the nature of the endowment is not clear. Piḷḷaiyār Arikulakēsari, the father of the donatrix is no other than Ariñjaya. Rājakēsarivarman of this inscription should therefore refer to his son and successor Sundara-Chōḷa. The expedition to Ceylon mentioned in the record, wherein the Bāṇa prince is said to have distinguished himself (at the cost of his life), is known to have been led by the Koḍumbāḷūr chief and general Parāntakaṉ Śiṟiyavēḷār in the reign of Sundara-Chōḷa (Ep. Ind. Vol. XII, pp. 124 ff., and M.E.R. 1914., II, 15).

Summary: This records an agreement given by seven temple servants (taḷippaṭṭuḍaiyār) to burn a perpetual lamp in the shrine on the north side of the temple of Mahādēva of Avanigandharvva-Īśvara-gṛiham, a dēvadāna in Kuṉṟak-kūṟṟam with the interest on ten kaḻañju of gold now received by them from the two (classes of) nagarattār with whom the amount had been originally deposited by the donor, Vīraśōḻa Aṇukkaṉ Śiṟiyappi Maḻapāḍi of Avanigandarvvapuram in the 1[6]th year of Parakēsarivarman Uttama-Chōḷa in the regime of Aḍigaḷ Paḻuvēṭṭaraiyar Kaṇḍaṉ Maṟavaṉār. At the time of the transfer of this amount the administration of the temple is said to have been vested with one Kauśikaṉ Nakkaṉ Māṟapirāṉ. The inscription may be assigned to Rājarāja I.

Summary: The inscription records a gift of 2 shares (of land) after purchasing them from two members of the āḷuṅgaṇam of the village Chandralēkai-chaturvēdimaṅgalam, named Irāyūr Nārāyaṇa-Baṭṭa Daśapuriya and Kuravaśiri Echcha(Yajña)kumāra Daśapuriya, and getting them made tax-free by the sabhā, by a certain Kōdai-Pavitram for providing for the expenses of the festival in the temple of god Tirupperundurai-Perumāṉaḍigaḷ. As the script employed in this inscription is of the same early variety as that of No. 310 of the 24th year of Rājakēsarivarman published below, which has been assigned to Āditya I, this may also be attributed to that king.

Summary: This registers a sale of land to the temple of Śrī Pāṇḍaṉ-Viṇṇagardēvar at Vīraśōḻa-chaturvēdimaṅgalam (by which name evidently Nerūr was known), a brahmadēya in Kīḻaṅga-nāḍu by Bāradāyaṉ (Bhāradvājan) Nārāyaṇaṉ Nārāyaṇaṉ a resident of the village. The price he received is stated to have been 3 1/2 kaḻañju of gold by the standard weight known as Kāśeṭṭāṅkal, which probably signifies that a kaḻañju of gold was equivalent to 8 kāśu in weight. This is incised in late characters and is probably an inscription of Kulōttuṅga-Chōḷa I.

It registers the gift of two forehead plates to the deity out of about 14 kaḻañju of gold collected as fine from 3 members of the nagarattār community of the village by Ayaṉ Kāmakkōḍaṉār while he was the investigating officer of the affairs of the temple (śrīkāryam) at Tirune[y*]ttāṉam. The name of one of the nagarattār is given as Ariñjigai Neyttāṉaṉ. This is possibly a record of the reign of Sundara-Chōḷa.

Summary: This states that on the representation of Karambiyaṉ Pirāntakaṉ alias Karuviḍaippēraraiyaṉ made to Aḍigaḷ Paḻavēṭṭaraiyar Maṟavaṉ Kaṇḍaṉār, the latter permitted the adoption of the maṉṟupāḍu at Paḻavūr by the servants of the two temples, the two (classes of) nagarattār and the 12 kalaṉai on the scale (or in the manner) that prevailed at Nandipuram since olden times. On receipt of the order by Vēḷāṉ Chintāmaṇi, the headman of Tattaṉūr, the first of the groups mentioned had it engraved on stone. The nagarattār’s action on the same is recorded in No. 208 above. An inscription of Sundara-Chōḷa.

Summary: This records an agreement of the Śivabrāhmaṇas of the temple at Tiruppālaivanam to burn a perpetual lamp before the deity, in lieu of interest for the gold received by them from a resident of Tiruvānmiyūr in Puliyūr-kōṭṭam. The gilding of the Tiruppērambalam, i.e., the temple at Chidambaram, which is claimed for king Rājakēsarivarman of this record, is also attributed (in A.R. No. 349 of 1929 from the same place) to Tribhuvanachakravartin Kulōttuṅga-Chōḷadēva who has been identified with Kulōttuṅga II in the Epigraphical Report for 1929, Part II, para 35. The present inscription may therefore be assigned to that king. (See also M.E.R. 1927, II. 24.)

This registers an endowment of 30 kaḻañju of gold for burning a perpetual lamp in the temple of Mahādēva at Tirutturutti, by Naṅgai Śāttaperumāṉār the bōgiyār (mistress) of the Chōḷa king. This donatrix figures also in No. 247 from Tillaisthānam dated in the 14th year of the king, published below.

Summary: This records a gift of 30 kaḻañju of gold for a perpetual lamp in the temple of Mahādēva at Tiruppaḻaṉam, a dēvadāna in Miṟai-kūṟṟam, by Śōḻaperumānaḍigaḷ Peruneṟkiḷḷich-Chōḷa. The donor is evidently identical with king Rājakēsarivarman himself who was called so after his great ancestor Perunaṟkiḷḷi of Śaṅgam fame who performed the Rājasūya sacrifice. The same surname is found for the donor in No. 15 above from Tiruveṇkāḍu, which is also dated in the 2nd year of Rājakēsarivarman.

Summary: This inscription is mutilated and is incomplete. It registers a gift of land tax-free, after purchasing it from the sabhā of Dantivarmamaṅgalam, by a resident of the village called Mūtta Bhavasēna-[Krama]vittaṉ, for providing for offerings and a perpetual lamp in the temple of Tiruviśalūr-Perumānaḍigaḷ in the village. The land is stated to have been irrigated from the tank called Māṟpiḍugēri. Māṟpiḍugu might have been a surname of the Pallava king Dantivarman. Mr. Krishna Sastri thinks that the tank probably owed its origin to Māṟpiḍugu-Iḷaṅgōvēḷāṉ, a subordinate of king Dantivarman (M.E.R. for 1910, II, 7).

Summary: This is probably an inscription of Parāntaka II Sundara-Chōḷa. It records a gift of some lands for providing for the sacred bath with a thousand potfuls of water, of god Tiruvanantīśvarattu-Paramasvāmi at Vīranārāyaṇa-chaturvēdimaṅgalam on the day of Saṅkrānti every month, by Vīmaṉ Kundavaiyār the mother of Ariñjiya Pirāntakadēvar, by which is evidently meant Parāntaka, son of Ariñjaya. Kundavaiyār is surmised to have been a daughter of Ādittaṉ Vīmaṉ, the chief of Aṇḍurai and the donor of two grants in the reign of Ariñjaya (M.E.R. 1928, II, 3). Among the boundaries of the gift-lands is mentioned a channel called Irumuḍichchōḻavāykkāl and another called Mānavalla[bha*]-vāykkāl. Irumuḍi-Chōḷa was a surname of Parāntaka I (S.I.I. Vol. III, Int. p. 13).

Summary: This records an endowment of 2 plots of land after purchase, one by Ādi[t*]taṉ Kōdaippirāṭṭiyār, the queen of Ariñjigai-Paṉmar ‘who died at Āṟṟūr’ for providing for the sacred bath of the god with 108 pots of water, and for offerings on the day of Vishu in Chittirai, and the other by Vīmaṉ Kundavaiyār, another queen, towards the supply of 1,000 potfuls of water for the same purpose. This gift by the latter is evidently meant as a supplement to the one mentioned in No. 224 above. This is also an inscription of Parāntaka II Sundara-Chōḷa.

It records an endowment of 8 mā of land after purchasing it free of all taxes from the sabhā of Tirukkōḍikā alias Kaṇṇamaṅgalam, by Māśēṉaṉ Mādaṉ of Śiṟukāṭṭūr in Mērkkā-nāḍu, to provide for the supply of 5 pots of water (thrice ?) every day by the temple servants from the river Kāviri for the sacred bath of the god. A kaḻañju of gold was also separately endowed for the purchase of a (mud) pot of one tūṇi capacity every month with the interest thereon.
