Translation

⟨1–8⟩ He who had this stone¹ made ⟨is⟩ the lord Kulottuṅga […] alias Maṅkaṉ Tāmattaṉ, a kaikkōḷaṉ² from Koṭumpālur.

Commentary

For other pillars donated by others kaikkōḷaṉs in the same temple see INSKotumpalur00018 and INSKotumpalur00044.

INSKotumpalur00044 and INSKotumpalur00045 have been copied as one entry in ARIE 1907-1908. INSKotumpalur00044 has been later copied as a single entry in ARIE 1968-1969. It seems that we have two pillars, each with an inscription naming its donor.

ARIE 1968–69 reads the personal name as “Paṅgan Sāmantan alias Kolōttuṅgaśōḻak-koṅganāyaṉ alias Ma . Amalan Śēṉaṉ Uḍaiyān”.
