Blagden:

Year 80 (718 AD), 2nd month, 4th day; Sihavikrama died, aged 44 years, 9 months and 20 days.

San Win:

On the 20th day of the 9th month of the (Pyu = 363) year 44 King Siha Vikrama died. He was 80 years old.

Commentary

Vague traces of punctuation signs followed by another text after this one are visible on the estampages.

Note the allograph of u in phvuṃ.

Note sniḥ sniḥ plaṁ su plaṁ rla tko tiṁ phvuṃ nsu tiṁ ‘on year 44, month 9 (and?) day 20’

Bibliography

ASI notes the discovery of 006 along with 005, two urns “inscribed with legends in the Pyu character”. ASB, also notes Venkayya’s reading of the name [S]ihavikrama. Blagden 1913_–_1914, p. (B1) provides a complete transliteration and a tentative translation. (He also mentions the second, highly effaced inscription, his B2, that follows on the same line as B1, but he attempts no reading. This inscription is now generally regarded as unrecoverable.) Tha Myat [sā mrat] 1963, pp. 47 (D), 50, has eye copy, a Burmese transliteration (with minor changes from Blagden) and English translation. Luce 1985, pp. I, 48, 57 n. 13, 126–7, is an overview. Sein Win [cin vaṅḥ] 2016, p. 63 has a transliteration in Burmese script (again, with minor changes) and a glossary. Re-edited here from published photographs.
