35 <p>This inscription is dated in the 16th year of the reign of the ancient <hi rend="bold">Chōḷa</hi> king <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi>,<note>To the same reign belong Nos. <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv01p0i0085">85</ref> and <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv01p0i0148">148</ref> of Vol. I. The king is perhaps identical with Vijayālaya, the grandfather of Parāntaka I.</note> and records that the villagers granted certain land to the temple, at the request and with the approval of the temple manager, <hi rend="bold">Chakrapāṇi Nambi</hi> (ll. 3 and 10).</p>

In the 16th year (<hi rend="italic">of the reign</hi>) of king <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi>, we, the great assembly, including the great men elected for the year and the great men elected for (<hi rend="italic">the supervision of</hi>) the tank, (<hi rend="italic">being assembled</hi>) in the <hi rend="bold">Puvaṉimāṇikka-Vishṇugṛiham</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Śivachūḷāmaṇimaṅgalam</hi>, <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Śrī-Vikramābharana-chaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">a village</hi>) in its own subdivision of <hi rend="bold">Kāliyūr-kōṭṭam</hi>, assigned, at the request of <hi rend="bold">Chakrapāṇi Nambi</hi>, the manager of the temple, to the god of the <hi rend="bold">Puvanimāṇikka-Vishṇugṛiham</hi> in our village (<hi rend="italic">the following</hi>) land, for burnt oblations (<hi rend="italic">havana</hi>), for festivals (<hi rend="italic">utsava), (for</hi>) expiations (<hi rend="italic">prāyaśchitta</hi>) and the bathing of the idol (<hi rend="italic">tirumañjana</hi>) at the winter solstice, at the solstice in <hi rend="bold">Āḍi</hi>, at the equinox in Śittirai, at the equinox in Aippaśi, at eclipses of the sun, and at eclipses of the moon, and for burning all kinds of pots and all kinds of . . . . . . . . . .</p>
