35 <p>The middle part of this inscription is covered by the wall of the modern <hi rend="italic">mahāmaṇḍapa</hi>, which has been erected between the <hi rend="bold">Rājasiṁhavarmeśvara</hi> Shrine and that <hi rend="italic">maṇḍapa</hi>, on the base of which the inscription is engraved. It is dated in the fourth year of <hi rend="bold">Ko-Parakesarivarman</hi> and records, that the villagers of <hi rend="bold">Kallaḍuppūr</hi><note>Compare <hi rend="bold">Kalleḍuppūr</hi> in No. 83, line 5.</note> pledged themselves, to furnish a fixed yearly supply of paddy from the interest of a sum of money, which they had received from the shrine of <hi rend="bold">Ādidāsa Chaṇḍeśvara</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Tiruvottūr</hi>.</p>

· <p>Hail! Prosperity! In the fourth year of <hi rend="bold">Ko-Parakesarivarman</hi>, we, the assembly (<hi rend="italic">sabhā</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Kallaḍuppūr</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Viṟappeḍu-nāḍu</hi>,<note><hi rend="bold">Viṟappeḍu</hi> is probably meant for <hi rend="bold">Vīra-pēḍu</hi>, “the town of Vīra,” or “the town of heroes.” Compare the names Vaṅgipp[u]ṟam in No. 72, Tirukkaṟṟaḷippuṟam in No. 84, and Tiruviṛāpuṟam in No. 146, where <foreign>puṟam</foreign> stands for <foreign>puram</foreign>, “a town.”</note> (<hi rend="italic">a division</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Kāliyūr-koṭṭam</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">made the following</hi>) written agreement. We have received from the hands of <hi rend="bold">Ādidāsa Chaṇḍeśvara</hi> (<hi rend="italic">at</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Tiruvottūr</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Taṉakūṟu</hi> (?), (<hi rend="italic">a division</hi>) of this <hi rend="italic">koṭṭam</hi>, eight and a half . . . . . of gold. According to the standard (<hi rend="italic">āṇikkal</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Kachchippeḍu</hi>, we have received twenty <hi rend="italic">kaṛañjus</hi> weight of gold. For these twenty <hi rend="italic">kaṛañjus</hi> of gold, from (<hi rend="italic">the month of) Tai</hi> of this year forward, . . . . . . . . . . we, the assembly of <hi rend="bold">Kallaḍuppūr</hi>, shall measure and give paddy into the hands of the <hi rend="italic">Śiva</hi> (i.e., <hi rend="italic">Śaiva</hi>) <hi rend="italic">Brāhmaṇas . . . . . . . . . . (From</hi>) the interest of these twenty <hi rend="italic">kaṛañjus</hi> of gold, we, . . . the great people, who constitute the villageassembly of our village, shall measure and give every year ninety <hi rend="italic">kāḍis</hi><note>The same measure is mentioned in line 4 of the fragment No. 146.</note> of paddy, without breaking our promise (<hi rend="italic">even</hi>) partially.</p>
