Translation by Emmanuel Francis

(1) Prosperity! Fortune!

(1–2) Twenty-fifth [year] of Nantippōttaracar.

(2–9) [For] the Subrahmaṇya of Tiruvāṉpūr in the Peyyūriḷaṅkōṭṭam, in that manner, ¿among? (-uḷḷum) fifty-five kaḻañcus of gold, we have ordered/declared [these/some of these] kaḻañcus of gold that the Matuvārs had given as tax-free land for a lamp ¿and offerings?, at the request/petition of Āḷuva Aracar whereas the order/execution was [by] Caḷukki Aracar.

(9–10) The nāṭṭārs, the Ūrārs, and the ruler shall not forget (maṟavaṟka) this pious act (aṟam)!

Commentary

(3) Tiruvāṉpūr = Tiruvāṉmūr, according to Mahalingam 1988.

(5) Matuvārs = toddy drawers?

On the identity of Caḷukki Aracar and Āḷuva Aracar, see Mahalingam 1960. Caḷukki Aracar appears to be the executor of the order of a superior king (Nandivarman II Pallava?) rather than the issuer and/or executor of his own order.
