Edition

⟨1⟩ […]jatradeṃvi °o ḅ[i](ḥ)[…]

⟨2⟩ […]yaṁ ||[…]

Apparatus

⟨1⟩ jatradeṃvijatradevī ASI. — ⟨1⟩ [i](ḥ)bi ASI.

Translation

Julian K. Wheatley's translation (assuming the text is complete)

This is the revered (Queen) Chandradevi.

Commentary

1. ASI reads the first line as “Jatradevī u bi x x” with a long ī absent from Pyu, recognizing the Sanskrit name Candradevī and noting PYU 17 (the sun-moon stele) where the same name is mentioned (Mahadevi Sri Jatra). Luce speaks of this lady as “Queen Chandradevi”.

Bibliography

First reported by U Mya writing in ASI, which notes 2 lines with a total of 7 akṣaras, including the name jatradevi, identified as Queen Chandradevi. Luce, in Luce 1985, pp. I, 66, 75 n. 29, 149, repeats much of what is in ASI in his summary. Re-edited here from published photographs.
