Commentary
The record consists of two parts and is incised between the two inner chambers in the cave. During the fieldtrip in January 2023, I observed that the whole text was anointed by devotees living in the cave. As the name of Subhacandra, disciple of Kulacandra is found inscribed in the same cave (Navamuni cave Inscription of the time of Uddyotakeśarin year 18), it is highly likely that this inscription dates from the reign of Uddyotakeśarin.
Beglar & Cunningham 1882, p. 90 who first noticed this inscription gives the following reading: “Sri acārya Kula Candra, the disciple of Saha Candra Katuriji, *** rest oblitared; another Sri Sravaki Vi***”.
