35 <p>This inscription (No. 207 of 1902) is engraved on the south wall of the <hi rend="italic">maṇḍapa</hi> in front of the shrine in the <hi rend="bold">Tintriṇīśvara</hi> temple at <hi rend="bold">Tiṇḍivaṉam</hi>, the head-quarters of a tāluka of the South Arcot district. The end of most lines (including the date in line 11) is covered by a brick wall, which was temporarily removed for preparing an inked estampage.</p>

· <p>The inscription is dated in the 6th year of <hi rend="bold">Vīrarājēndra</hi> I. and records the gift of 12 cows to the <hi rend="bold">Tiruttiṇḍīśvara</hi> temple at <hi rend="bold">Giḍaṅgil</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Ōymā-nāḍu</hi>.<note>See above. p. 148 and note 3.</note> Giḍaṅgil is now the name of a suburb of Tiṇḍivaṉam.</p>

(<hi rend="italic">He</hi>) terrified <hi rend="bold">Āhavamalla</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Kūḍalśaṅgamam</hi>, saw the retreating back of <hi rend="bold">Vikkalaṉ</hi> and <hi rend="bold">Śiṅgaṇaṉ</hi>, and seized riches and vehicles along with his (<hi rend="italic">viz</hi>). 120 <p>(L. 8.) (<hi rend="italic">He</hi>) expelled the great <hi rend="italic">Sāmantas</hi>) beginning with <hi rend="bold">Dēvanātha</hi> from <hi rend="bold">Śakkarakōṭṭam</hi> and seized their wives.</p>

(<hi rend="italic">These cows were</hi>) granted in order to (<hi rend="italic">supply</hi>) three <hi rend="italic">uḻakku</hi> of ghee, <hi rend="italic">viz.</hi><note>In accordance with Vol. II. p. 48, note 5, 1 <hi rend="italic">uri + 1 aḻākku + 1 aḻākku</hi> are equal to 3 <hi rend="italic">uḻakku</hi>.</note> one <hi rend="italic">uri</hi> of ghee for the <hi rend="italic">śrībali</hi>, one <hi rend="italic">aḻākku</hi> (of ghee) for the <hi rend="italic">hōma</hi>, and one <hi rend="italic">aḻākku</hi> of ghee and one <hi rend="italic">nāḻi</hi> of curds for offerings on those holy Sundays on which (<hi rend="italic">the god</hi>) is carried outside (<hi rend="italic">for</hi>) the <hi rend="italic">śrībali</hi>.</p>
