35 <p>This inscription consists of a single Sanskrit verse in the <hi rend="italic">Indravajrā</hi> metre and of a passage in Tamil prose. It is dated on a week-day (l. 3) which will probably admit of calculation, in the 18th year of the reign of <hi rend="italic">Tribhuvanachakravartin</hi> <hi rend="bold">Rājarājadēva</hi>, and records the gift of two lamps to the image of <hi rend="bold">Vishṇu</hi>, and to an image of <hi rend="bold">Narasiṁha</hi> which was set up in the same temple.</p>

· <p>Hail ! Prosperity ! (Verse 1.) <hi rend="bold">Śrīkṛishṇa-Sūri</hi>, a treasury of the scriptures (<hi rend="italic">Āgama</hi>), the full-moon of the ocean (<hi rend="italic">which is</hi>) the <hi rend="italic">Vādhūla-gōtra</hi>, gave a pair of lamps to the highest primal being <hi rend="bold">(Vishṇu)</hi> who resides at <hi rend="bold">Ratnāgrahāra</hi>.<note><hi rend="italic">I.e.</hi> Manimaṅgalam; compare No. <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv03p0i0027">27</ref>, verse 1.</note></p>

· <p>(Line 2.) In the 18th year (<hi rend="italic">of the reign</hi>) of the emperor of the three worlds, the glorious <hi rend="bold">Rājarājadēva</hi>, on the day of <hi rend="italic">Śravaṇa</hi>, which corresponded to a Monday and to the first <hi rend="italic">tithi</hi> of the first fortnight of the month of <hi rend="italic">Makara</hi>,—we two, <hi rend="bold">Śrīrāma-Bhaṭṭaṉ</hi>, who performs the worship in the temple of <hi rend="bold">Maṉṉaṉār</hi> (Vishṇu) at <hi rend="bold">Maṇimaṅgalam</hi>, <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Grāmaśikhāmaṇi-chaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>, and his younger brother <hi rend="bold">Vīṟṟirundāṉ Bhaṭṭaṉ</hi>, received two <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of pure gold from <hi rend="bold">Śrīkṛishṇa-Bhaṭṭa</hi><note>The same person was called Śrīkṛishṇa-Sūri in verse 1.</note> . . . . . of <hi rend="bold">Kuṇḍūr</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">a resident</hi>) of this village.</p>

We two have caused to be engraved on stone that, (<hi rend="italic">in return</hi>) for these two <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of pure gold, we shall have to burn, as long as the moon and the sun exist, one sacred lamp in the morning before the god <hi rend="bold">Maṉṉaṉār</hi>, and one sacred lamp in the evening before the god <hi rend="bold">Śiṅga-Perumāḷ</hi> who is pleased to reside in the same temple.</p>
