Translation

⟨1–6⟩ Cālivākaṉa year 1775,1 Kaliyuka year 4884, year Cōpakiṟutu, which was then current, month of Āvaṇi, day 30, on the auspicious day when combined a Friday and the nakṣatra Uttiraṭṭāti.

⟨6–11⟩ [This is the] pious donation (tārmam2) that Āpatuttāraṇa-ceṭṭiyār, son of Cēṉaikkuṭai Cuppiṟamaṇiya-ceṭṭiyār, gave by making a banner-post and the pavement [for] the temple of Mācilāmaṇiyīcuvaracuvāmi.

⟨11–12⟩ [This is made in] perpetual devotion.

⟨12⟩ Let prosperity be!

Commentary

Marco Franceschini kindly assessed the date (email, 2025-11-19), as follows: “With the exception of the Cālivākaṉa year, all the remaining calendrical data converge on 12 September 1783 CE, which was Cālivākaṉa (Śaka) current year 1705, Kaliyuga current year 4884, Jovian year Cōpakirutu (Śobhana), Friday, 26th nakṣatra (Uttiraṭṭāti). Thus, Cālivākaṉa 1775 is a mistake for Cālivākaṉa 1705.
