35 <p>This inscription is dated in the 4th year of <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi> and registers the gift of a lamp to the temple of <hi rend="bold">Tirukkīḷ-kōṭṭam</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Tirukkuḍamūkkil</hi> (<hi rend="italic">i.e.</hi>, the <hi rend="bold">Nāgēsvara</hi> temple at <hi rend="bold">Kumbhakōṇam</hi>). The astronomical details given in the record were verified by Diwan Bahadur L. D. Swamikkannu Pillai and found to be correct for <hi rend="bold">Madhurāntaka Uttama-Chōḷa</hi>, the uncle of <hi rend="bold">Rājarāja</hi> I. The date corresponds to Thursday, the 22nd April A. D. 975<note><hi rend="italic">Vide Madras Epigraphical Report</hi> for 1912, page 65, paragraph 20.</note> .</p>

· <p>In the 4th year of (<hi rend="italic">the reign of</hi>) king <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi>, on the day of Makhā which corresponded to a Thursday and to the ninth <hi rend="italic">tithi</hi> of the month of Mēsha, we the great men of the chief assembly (<hi rend="italic">mūlaparuḍai</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Tirukkuḍamūkkil</hi> . . . . . which was a <hi rend="italic">dēvadāna</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Pāmbūr-nāḍu</hi> on the northern bank (<hi rend="italic">of the <hi rend="bold">Kāvērī</hi></hi>), sold the following land . . . . . on account of one sacred perpetual lamp which was placed for the great god (<hi rend="italic">paramasvāmin</hi>) at <hi rend="bold">Tirukkīḻ-kōṭṭam</hi> on behalf of <hi rend="bold">Kāri Koḻambaṉ</hi>, one of the <hi rend="italic">[Kai]kkōḷas</hi> . . . . . </p>
