35 <p>Like No. <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv03p0i0040">40</ref>, this inscription is dated on a week-day which will probably admit of calculation, in the 18th year of the reign of <hi rend="italic">Tribhuvanachakravartin</hi> <hi rend="bold">Rājarājadēva</hi>. It records that the same two brothers, who are mentioned in No. <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv03p0i0039">39</ref> above, paid to the authorities of the <hi rend="bold">Dharmēśvara</hi> temple two <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of gold, from the interest of which the cost of feeding two lamps had to be defrayed.</p>

· <p>(Line 1.) Hail ! Prosperity ! With the approval of the god,—in the 18th year (<hi rend="italic">of the reign</hi>) of the emperor of the three worlds, <hi rend="bold">Śrī-Rājarājadēva</hi>, on the day of <hi rend="italic">Rēvatī</hi>, which corresponded to a Tuesday and to the second <hi rend="italic">tithi</hi> of the second fortnight of the month of <hi rend="italic">Siṁha</hi>,—we, all the holders of the land (<hi rend="italic">kāṇi</hi>) of the <hi rend="italic">Śiva-Brāhmaṇas</hi> of the temple of the lord <hi rend="bold">Taṉmīśvara</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Maṇimaṅgalam</hi>, <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Grāmaśikhāmaṇi-chaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>, in <hi rend="bold">Kuṉṟattūr-nāḍu</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">a subdivision</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Puliyūr-kōṭṭam</hi>, <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Kulōttuṅga-Śōḻavaḷanāḍu</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">a district</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Jayaṅkoṇḍa-Śōḻa-maṇḍalam</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">viz.) Gautamaṉ</hi> <hi rend="bold">Ambalakkūtta-Bhaṭṭaṉ</hi>, <hi rend="italic">Kāśyapaṉ</hi> <hi rend="bold">Gaṅgādhara-Bhaṭṭaṉ</hi>, and the partners<note>See above, p. 6, note 11.</note> of <hi rend="italic">Kāśyapaṉ</hi> <hi rend="bold">Tiruchchiṟṟambala-Bhaṭṭaṉ</hi>, received on interest from <hi rend="bold">Brahmapriyaṉ</hi>, the eldest son of <hi rend="bold">Pañchanadi Lakshmaṇaṉ Malaigiṉiyaniṉṟāṉ</hi>, the accountant of this village, and his younger brother <hi rend="bold">Āhavamalladēvaṉ</hi> 2 <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of pure gold (<hi rend="italic">under the condition</hi>) that we should burn at early dawn from this day two sacred lamps which (<hi rend="italic">those two persons</hi>) had given (<hi rend="italic">to the temple</hi>).</p>
