· <p>The arrangement of the text as printed by <bibl><ptr target="bib:Finot1912"/><citedRange>135</citedRange></bibl> is incorrect; the same author was quite wrong when, in a subsequent article (<bibl><ptr target="bib:Finot1913_01"/><citedRange>194</citedRange></bibl>), he wrote as follows: <quote type="block"><foreign>on constate que le début des trois lignes forme une sorte de tranche isolée du reste par un intervalle que rien ne justifie. Il est extrêmement probable

· <p><bibl><ptr target="bib:ASI"/><citedRange>1910-11: 89</citedRange></bibl> describes the discovery of two of the three fragments of this inscription, estampages of which were sent to M.L. Finot who recognized it to be excerpts from the Pali canon written in an archaic script. The discovery of the third, central, stone fragment was reported in <bibl><ptr target="bib:ASI"/><citedRange>1911-12: 141-2</citedRange></bibl>. Estampages were sent to Finot who identified excerpts from the Abhidhamma Vibhaṅga and provided a transliteration and translation of the three excerpts. <bibl><ptr target="bib:Finot1912"/><citedRange>134-5</citedRange></bibl> and <bibl><ptr target="bib:Finot1913_01"/><citedRange>193-5</citedRange></bibl> also report on the inscription. (Finot misconstrues the format of the text which, as it turns out, preserves only the beginning and end of an inscription that would have originally encircled the stone.) <bibl><ptr target="bib:ThaMyat1963_01"/><citedRange>35-36</citedRange></bibl>, probably in error, gives slightly different eye drawings of the inscription together with Burmese transliterations (apparently based on Finot’s Pali reading in Journal Asiatique). <bibl><ptr target="bib:Luce1985_01"/><citedRange>I, 61, 74 n. 4, 175-6</citedRange></bibl>, provides an overview. <bibl><ptr target="bib:SeinWin2016_01"/><citedRange>104-10</citedRange></bibl> reproduces Tha Myat’s reading(s) and then provides his own. Commentary

Il est extrêmement probable que le graveur copiait un texte écrit sur deux pièces séparées.
