⟨1⟩ bodhirukhapeḍhikā • The substantive peḍhikā (then spelt peḍhīkā) is also found in composition in KnI0289, l. 1, and in KnI0312, l. 2. Cf. AMg peḍhiyā = Skt. pīṭhikā (see also pīṭhī), meaning “seat, base, pedestal”. See, for instance, NWS, s.v. Sircar 1966, s.v. gives “platform”. Could this point architecturally to a base? On the stool being mentioned in the context of Awakening, see for instance DN-a I.57-58.
