Version: (6b33b5d), last modified (6048c15).

Edition

⟨1⟩ […] (sa) cadasa ca mātūya […]

⟨2⟩ […] naṁ navakamikā padhānapari [*][…]

⟨3⟩ […] ṇo dhamakadhiko Ayapārapo ca <triratna>

Apparatus

⟨1⟩ mātūyamātuyā C S.

⟨2⟩ padhānapariS; ḍadhānaḍāri CChanda 1919–1920 systematically misread the pas of this inscription. It is tempting to restore padhānapari[gahita], by analogy with the occurrence of padhānaparigāhi[ta] in an inscription from Peddaveggi EIAD 597, or perhaps instead padhānapari[gāhaka]. The compound padhānapariggāhaka indeed occurs thrice in the Theragāthā-aṭṭhakathā. See, for instance Th-a II.72: ekadivasaṁ padhānapariggāhakena therena tasmiṁ araññāyatane bhikkhū uddissa vuttaṁ padhānānuyogaṁ pariggaṇhanto.

⟨3⟩ ayapārapoayaḍāraḍo C; ayapārapo⟨⟨ta⟩⟩ SSivaramamurti 1942 remarks that the engraver secondarily added this akṣara. We do not see however any trace of ta on the estampage, and -pārapo—a curious name, to be sure—has at least the merit of being in the nom. sg. and to accord with dhamakadhiko.

Translation
