Summary: This is dated in the 2nd year of Nandippōttaraiyar and records the construction of the mukha-maṇḍapa by Śelvavāṇarayaṉ, son of Amaṉi-Gaṅgaraiyar, who was ruling over Vittūr. It may be noted that Paḷḷikoṇḍa was called Vichchūr¹ in ancient times.

Palaeographically, the present record may be attributed to the reign of Nandivarman III. In a later record viz., of the 10th year of the Chōḷa Parakēsarivarman from Tiruchchattuṟai in the Tanjore district, figures a chief of Paṅgaḷanāḍu named Bhuvani-Gaṅgaraiyan.² Since Paḷḷikoṇḍa was in Paṅgaḷa-nāḍu, Amaṉi (Avani)Gaṅgaraiyar of the present inscription may have been an earlier member of the family of Paṅgaḷa-nāḍu chiefs.
