⟨8⟩ m¿o?⟨ē⟩laṉa ⬦ mē{ra}laṉa IPS; mēlaṉa SII • The original incorrect spelling cannot be mera, as this inscription makes the distinction between medial ā and ra. Both IPS and SII read a piḷḷaiyār cūḻi after this final word, but there is no punctuation mark on the stone.

Translation

⟨1⟩ Prosperity!

⟨1–3⟩ 5th year of the victorious king Tantippōttaraiyaṉ.¹

⟨3–6⟩ ⟨This is⟩ the pond that Kalimūrkka-Iḷavaraiyaṉ, alias Vāḻi Vaṭukaṉ, a servant of the honourable king Pērati, alias Māṟappiṭuviṉār, made; ⟨its name is⟩ the Vāli tank.

⟨6–7⟩ The feet of he who protects this pond are on my head.
