Identifier: DHARMA_INSMelKil00006.

Summary: Mēlappaḻuvūr, Kīḻaiyūr, Ireṭṭaikkōyil, Agastyeśvara, Ardhamaṇḍapa, northern face, time of Rājakesarin (Sundaracōḻa?), year 11. AIM, southern shrine; middle inscription on the easternmost wall section of the ardha-maṇḍapa of the northern façade; 11th regnal year of Kōrājakesarivarman = probably Sundaracōḻa (circa 968 A.D.); this inscription may have been engraved after the one below (#2): the line 7 is tightly engraved and lines 8 to 11 continue on the pilaster, probably because there was not enough space below; this inscription is also connected to #24, which is damaged but has a similar structure and the same vēḷaṉ is mentioned.

Commentary

(1) Rājakesarin is probably Sundaracōḻa, during whose reign the Paḻuvēṭṭaraiyar Maṟavaṉ Kaṇṭaṉār was ruling over Paḻuvūr.
