⟨1⟩ śrī dāmōdharēśvaraṁbu

Apparatus

Translation by Jens Thomas

(This is the shrine of) Śrī Dāmōdhara

Commentary

The ending -aṁbu makes clear that the inscription does not represent a proper noun. The context, “On top of a niche containing a linga” (Ramayya Pantulu 1948, p. 18), shows that it probably is the name of that niche.

Bibliography

The inscription was noted in A. R. No. 266 of 1922 and first published by J. Ramayya Pantulu with few metadata and without picture and translation (1948, p. 18, № 41). K. M. Sastri summarizes: “Records the name of the shrine Dāmōdharēśvaraṁbu” (1969, p. 328, № 56).
