35 <p>This inscription is mutilated and is incomplete. It registers a gift of land tax-free, after purchasing it from the <hi rend="italic">sabhā</hi> of <hi rend="bold">Dantivarmamaṅgalam</hi>, by a resident of the village called <hi rend="bold">Mūtta Bhavasēna-[Krama]vittaṉ</hi>, for providing for offerings and a perpetual lamp in the temple of Tiruviśalūr-Perumānaḍigaḷ in the village. The land is stated to have been irrigated from the tank called <hi rend="bold">Māṟpiḍugēri.</hi> <hi rend="italic">Māṟpiḍugu</hi> might have been a surname of the Pallava king Dantivarman. Mr. Krishna Sastri thinks that the <hi rend="bold">tank probably owed its origin to Māṟpiḍugu-Iḷaṅgōvēḷāṉ, a subordinate of king Dantivarman</hi> (<hi rend="italic">M.E.R.</hi> for 1910, II, 7).</p>
