35 <p>This record belongs to the 10th year of <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndrādhi[pati]varman</hi> and registers a gift of 92 <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of gold for providing paddy for sacred offerings to the image of <hi rend="bold">Kaligai-viṭaṅka</hi> in the temple of <hi rend="bold">Tiruvūṟaldēva</hi>, by the donor mentioned in No. <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv03p0i0184">184</ref> above. The gold was received by the assembly of <hi rend="bold">Rājamārttāṇḍachaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>, a hamlet of <hi rend="bold">Tiruvūṟalpuram</hi> (<hi rend="italic">i.e.</hi>, <hi rend="bold">Takkōlam</hi>) in <hi rend="bold">Maṇaiyir-kōṭṭam</hi> and fetched an interest of 92 <hi rend="italic">kāḍi</hi> of paddy per year.</p>

· <p>(Line 1.) Hail ! Prosperity ! In the 10th year (<hi rend="italic">of the reign</hi>) of king <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndrādhivarman</hi>, we (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the assembly of <hi rend="bold">Rājamārttāṇḍachaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">a village</hi>) in its (<hi rend="italic">own</hi>) subdivision in <hi rend="bold">Tiruvūṟalpuram</hi> of <hi rend="bold">Maṇaiyir-kōṭṭam</hi>, have received from <hi rend="bold">Kumaraḍi-Naṅgai</hi>, daughter of <hi rend="bold">Nandiri-Naṅgai</hi>, who is the daughter of <hi rend="bold">Dēvaṉār</hi> of <hi rend="bold">Tiruvūṟal</hi>,<note>It is possible also to interpret <hi rend="italic">Tiruvūṟal-Dēvaṉār</hi> as the god at Tiruvūṟal, in which case ‘his daughter’ would mean a servant woman in the temple of Tiruvūṟal-dēva.</note> ninety-two <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of gold weighed by the standard weight (<hi rend="italic">dharmakaṭṭaḷai-eḍarpuram)</hi><note>Perhaps <foreign>eḍarpuram</foreign> here and in No. <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv03p0i0180">180</ref> above has to be explained as <hi rend="italic">iḍaiyāl</hi>; see page 357 above, footnote 1; cf. also <hi rend="italic">dhanmakaṭṭaḷai-kal</hi> in <hi rend="italic">South-Indian Inscriptions</hi>, Vol. I, No. 146, text line 3.</note>. For these ninety-two <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of gold we (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the assembly of <hi rend="bold">Rājamārttāṇḍachaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi> agreed to measure every year without failure, in our village, as long as the moon and the sun (<hi rend="italic">last</hi>), ninety-two <hi rend="italic">kāḍi</hi> of paddy (<hi rend="italic">measured</hi>) by the <hi rend="italic">marakkāl (called) kavarāmoḻi</hi> by which the paddy for the sacred daily expenses (<foreign>tirucceṉṉaṭai</foreign>) and the (<hi rend="italic">paddy of) pañchavāram</hi> due from us to <hi rend="bold">Tiruvūṟal-dēva</hi>, are measured, adding it to the sacred (<hi rend="italic">paddy</hi>) for current daily expenses and (<hi rend="italic">dividing it</hi>) into three parts<note>Evidently the paddy in question was measured out in three different instalments as in the case of the <hi rend="italic">tiruchcheṉṉaḍai-nel</hi>.</note> in the manner in which (<hi rend="italic">paddy</hi>) for the current sacred daily expenses of <hi rend="bold">Tiruvūṟal-dēva</hi> is done, for sacred offerings as long as the moon and the sun (<hi rend="italic">last</hi>), to (<hi rend="italic">the image of</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Kaligai-Viṭaṅkar</hi> set up in the sleeping hall (<hi rend="italic">called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Raṇaśiṅgavīrar</hi> within (<hi rend="italic">the temple of</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Tiruvūṟal-dēva</hi>, by this <hi rend="bold">Kumaraḍi-Naṅgai</hi>.</p>

I, <hi rend="bold">Kumaraḍi-Naṅgai</hi>, daughter of <hi rend="bold">Nandiri-Naṅgai</hi>, endowed gold in this manner, stipulating that these ninety-two <hi rend="italic">kāḍi</hi> of paddy be measured by (<hi rend="italic">the measure called) kavarāmoḻi</hi> for (<hi rend="italic">providing</hi>) two sacred offerings to <hi rend="bold">Kaligai-Viṭaṅkar</hi>. The sacred feet of those who protect this charity (<hi rend="italic">shall</hi>) be on my head.</p>
