· <p>Hail ! Prosperity ! In the 8th year of (<hi rend="italic">the reign of</hi>) king <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndrādivarman, I, Ānikiḻāṉ</hi> of <hi rend="bold">Talaiśayaṉappuram</hi> <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Taiyūr</hi> (<hi rend="italic">situated</hi>) in this (<hi rend="italic">i.e.</hi>, <hi rend="bold">Āmūr-</hi>)<hi rend="bold">kōṭṭam</hi> and in its (<hi rend="italic">own</hi>) subdivision, gave ninety-three sheep which neither die nor grow old for one sacred perpetual lamp set up by <hi rend="bold">Nambaṉ Mañjaṉ</hi> <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Ugavārippēraiyaṉ</hi> to (<hi rend="italic">last</hi>) as long as the moon and the sun, in (<hi rend="italic">the temple of</hi>) the glorious <hi rend="bold">Varāhadēva</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Tiruviḍavandai</hi> (<hi rend="italic">which was</hi>) a <hi rend="italic">dēvadāna (village</hi>) in <hi rend="bold">Paḍuvūr-nāḍu</hi> (<hi rend="italic">a subdivision</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Āmūr-kōṭṭam. I, Viḷakkaṉ Kaḍanāḍaṉ</hi>, a shepherd (<hi rend="italic">maṉṟāḍi</hi>) living in <hi rend="bold">Tiruviḍavandai</hi>, having received these ninety-three sheep, bind myself to measure out daily (<hi rend="italic">one) uḻakku</hi> of ghee. We (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the assembly of <hi rend="bold">Tiruviḍavandai</hi> shall have this sacred perpetual lamp supervised by <hi rend="bold">Kaḍuṅgaṇaiyaṉ</hi> and shall see that it is maintained. Whoso (<hi rend="italic">of us</hi>) acts against this charity shall incur the sins committed by sinners (<hi rend="italic">living</hi>) in the seven hundred <hi rend="italic">kādam (of land</hi>) between <hi rend="bold">Gaṅgā</hi> (the Ganges) and <hi rend="bold">Kumari</hi> (Cape Comorin). The sacred feet of those who protect this charity (<hi rend="italic">shall</hi>) be on my head.</p>
