35 <p>The inscription is dated in the 8th year of <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi> and refers to the re-engraving of certain documents of land-gifts made in the 18th and 20th years of the reign of <hi rend="bold">Parāntaka</hi> I. The original documents, which had been engraved on the steps (<hi rend="italic">paḍikaṭṭu</hi>) of the old central shrine of the temple of <hi rend="bold">Tiruppāttuṟai</hi> had become weather-worn and it is stated that the assembly of <hi rend="bold">Uttamaśīli-chaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi> ordered their restoration.</p>
·
· <p>Among the boundaries of the lands granted are mentioned <hi rend="bold">Vīraśrī-Kāmugavadi, Ādichcha-vāykkāl, Kōdaṇḍarāmavadi</hi> and <hi rend="bold">Uttamaśīli-vāykkāl</hi> already referred to in the other inscriptions from <hi rend="bold">Tiruppalāttuṟai</hi>.</p>
·
· <p>The ruling king <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi> must be identified with one of the three kings, <hi rend="italic">viz.</hi>, <hi rend="bold">Ariñjaya, Āditya-Karikāla</hi> II. or <hi rend="bold">Uttama-Chōḷa Madhurāntaka</hi> who bore that epithet, and ruled between <hi rend="bold">Madiraikoṇḍa Parāntaka</hi> I. and <hi rend="bold">Rājarāja</hi> I. I am inclined to think that the reference is probably to the last.</p>
