35 <p>The subjoined record refers to two servants of prince Kōdaṇḍa who must be the same as <hi rend="bold">Kōdaṇḍarāma Rājāditya</hi>, the eldest son of <hi rend="bold">Parāntaka</hi> I<note>See No. <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv03p0i0105.xml">105</ref> below.</note> . <hi rend="bold">Tirumēṟṟaḷi</hi> is the same as <hi rend="bold">Mēlaikkōyil</hi> mentioned in the other records from <hi rend="bold">Kuḍumiyāmalai. Kāḍugāḷ</hi> which forms part of the name of a woman-servant of <hi rend="bold">Rājāditya</hi> (l. 4) occurs in the Tanjore inscriptions as the name of one of the village goddesses.</p>

· <p>Hail ! Prosperity ! In the 15th year of (<hi rend="italic">the reign of</hi>) king <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi> who took <hi rend="bold">Madirai</hi> (Madura), <hi rend="bold">Kuḍiyaṉ Kāḍugāḷ</hi> of <hi rend="bold">Maṅgalavāśal</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Paṉṟiyūrnāḍu</hi>, who was one of the female (<hi rend="italic">servants) (attached to</hi>) the kitchen (<hi rend="italic">maḍaippaḷḷi</hi>) of Prince (<hi rend="italic">piḷḷaiyār</hi>) Kōdaṇḍa, gave seven and a half <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of pure gold (<hi rend="italic">tuḷaippoṉ</hi>) for one perpetual lamp to (<hi rend="italic">the temple of</hi>) the lord of the <hi rend="bold">Tirumūlaṭṭāṉam</hi> (<hi rend="italic">temple</hi>) at <hi rend="bold">Tirunalakkuṉṟam</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Kuṉṟiyūr-nāḍu. Ōlai Vīraṭṭaṉ</hi> of <hi rend="bold">Adiyaraiyamaṅgalam</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Muṉaippāḍi</hi>, who supplied (<hi rend="italic">sandal</hi>) paste<note>The office held by Ōlai Vīraṭṭaṉ under the prince must have been one connected with the toilet of Rājāditya.</note> to Prince <hi rend="bold">Kōdaṇḍar</hi>, gave 3 (<hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi>) of pure gold (<hi rend="italic">tuḷaippoṉ</hi>) for one lamp to be burnt during day-time (<hi rend="italic">in the temple</hi>) of the god of Tirumēṟṟaḷi. (<hi rend="italic">The assembly of</hi>) all <hi rend="italic">Māhēśvaras</hi> shall protect (<hi rend="italic">this charity</hi>).</p>
