Commentary

In fact possiby two different inscriptions: inscription 1 from lines 1 to 7 (continuing on the middle octagonal portion of pillar 1? ) and inscription 2 from lines 7 to 31. Note that the original ARIE number has been expanded with letters, which means Subrahmanya Aiyer 1932 split into several inscriptions what was first perceive as one single record on the spot.

Subrahmanya Aiyer 1932 considers that there is one line between our lines 7 and 8. This is made necessary to connect the text between our lines 7 and 8. This is not warranted on the photos of the original and it substantiates the hypotheses that we have here in fact two discrete inscriptions.

On the date attribution to the reign of Nṛpatuṅgavarman, see Mahalingam 1988
