Translation by Emmanuel Francis

(1) Fortune!

(1–2) Fourteenth year of Nantippōttaraicar.

(2–6) The pious donation (aṟam) that Antai Iḷaiyār Appananti, [of this] village, gave for the ascetics who reside [here], excluding those belonging (uṭai) to this paḷḷi: seven kaḻañcus of gold, [as] alms (piccai).

(7–8) With one/per kaḻañcu, one uḻakku of rice … muṉ kuṟaṭṭi is to be given/provided (vaittatu).

(9–) This pious donation, We, the members of the ūr, shall protect, … (oṭṭiṉōṅ).

As the sin of ruining the Kāmakkōṭṭam, … (Oṭṭiṟ = oṭṭiṉ/oṭṭil?).

Daily, one uḻakku of rice … (muṭṭiṟ = muṭṭiṉ/muṭṭil?).

To the king daily one kāṭi(neṟṟaṇṭam).

(13) This gold is not to befall (paṭātu1) to the lineage of goldsmiths (ṟaṭṭārkkulam).

Commentary

(6) appaṇanti. IP: “May be read as Iḷaiyār Bavanandi.” But not granted: there might have been one Appananti and one Pavananti.
