Commentary

Based on the assumption that the river mentioned in the text is the Solo River, Stutterheim identified two toponyms in the text with modern places, all in present-day kabupaten Wonogiri: tlaṁ as Teleng village in kecamatan Manyaran, and paparuhuan as Praon hamlet to the west of Mount Gandul (Stutterheim 1934: 282–283). Titi Surti Nastiti cast doubt on these identifications, arguing that they were too far distant to have been considered a single sīma (2015: 33–34). She came to the view that the most likely identifications were: tlaṁ as Teleng hamlet, Sendang village, kecamatan Giriworyo and paparahuan as Jatiroto hamlet, Wonoboyo village, kecamatan Wonogiri on the bank of the Solo river, all in kabupaten Wonogiri.
