As for the latter, I’m not aware of the episode referred to (i.e., the one who took the nidhi from the hand of vaiśravaṇa); I wonder whether this could be a more general statement concerning the purpose of the mantra, i.e. expressing (perhaps a bit clumsily) the wish that one (the beneficiary of the mantra) may himself receive the nidhi from the hand of Vaiśravaṇa.
