⟨A1⟩ Avīghnam D N TAvignam B. — ⟨A1⟩ -varṣātīta D T-varsātīta N.

⟨A2⟩ (ma) [U] ca ⬦ [2×] ca B D T; ma U so N • Our reading confirms the reconstruction by Damais (1955: 156).

⟨A3⟩ lokānurāñjana ⬦ lokā[1×]rāñjana B; loka[…]urāñjana D; loka(ta)rāñjana N; lokadurāñjana T.

⟨A4⟩ saṁ hyaṁ D N Tmahā B.

⟨A5⟩ himad· D N Thəmad· B • D stops reading at this point. B reads həmad in all occurrences of this toponym. We shall not report further instances of this variant reading below. — ⟨A5⟩ mapaṅasəA • the reading is clear but the word form is unacceptable as it stands and might best be treated as superfluous altogether. Or we could accept a redundant repetition of maṅasəA by treating only the pa as superfluous. — ⟨A5⟩ vḍu⟨⟨s·⟩⟩ Tvḍu B N.

⟨A6⟩ gatyanikaṁ Tgatyanika B T.

⟨A7⟩ sakarmmaṇya B Tsaṁ karmmaṇya N. — ⟨A7⟩ tka(n)iṁ N Ttka (riṁ) B.

⟨A14⟩ [I saṁ hyaṁ prāsā]da ⬦ [5+][1×] B N.

⟨A15⟩ pa[rtta]ya N[2×] B; pa[rtya]ya T • T’s restitution may be correct but ours is more plausible, as the reading parttaya is considerably better attested than pratyaya in the corpus of Sindok inscriptions. — ⟨A15⟩ pamgat· B Nsamgat· T.

⟨A16⟩ pini[l]ai kataṅgaran· T[3×] kat(u)ṅgaran· B; piniṁlai kataṅgaran· N.

Bibliography

We have used Nakada’s edition (N, 1990: 2–21) as base text. However, his edition does not include the reading of the left and right upper parts. We compared it to the editions by Trigangga (T, 2003_01: 10–16) and Brandes (B, 1913: 63–69, OJO XXXVIII), as well as the reading furnished by Damais (D, 1955: 104–105) only for the first 5 lines. (Note that, contrary to the Linggasuntan charter, Trigangga’s 2003 edition for the present charter is not republished in Hasan Djafar & Trigangga 2019.) Our edition was then prepared through direct inspection of the stone at MNI by Eko Bastiawan in March 2023, benefiting from remote supervision and assistance by Arlo Griffiths.
