· <p rend="stanza" n="4">I praise the goddess Umā, whose <supplied reason="subaudible">diurnal</supplied> lotus-face, generating the emotion <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>bhāva</foreign></supplied> of astonishment, shone <supplied reason="subaudible">even at night</supplied> by the <supplied reason="subaudible">light of the</supplied> half-moon in Bhūteśa's Crest.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="5">Resplendent is Bhāratī, whose foot, always roaming around in the enamoured/reddened mouth of scholars, shone <supplied reason="subaudible">even</supplied> without lac.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="6">Victory <supplied reason="subaudible">has been achieved</supplied> by Ramā <supplied reason="explanation">Lakṣmī</supplied>, whose golden creeper of a hand, dangling down from the neck of Vaikuṇṭha <supplied reason="explanation">Viṣṇu</supplied>, shone <supplied reason="subaudible">like</supplied> a shining neck-lace.</p>
280 <p rend="stanza" n="7">There was a king <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>rājan</foreign></supplied> called Śrī Sūryavarman, undefeated victor in battle, ruler <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>indra</foreign></supplied> enjoying loyal support <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>sapakṣin</foreign></supplied>, pacifier of / merciful to enemies, like Lakṣmībhr̥t <supplied reason="explanation">Viṣṇu</supplied> endowed with Lakṣmī <supplied reason="explanation">Fortune</supplied>.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="8">Who, being a frontal ornament in the ruling lineage, originated in the maternal line of King Śrī Indravarman who <supplied reason="subaudible">himself</supplied> originated in a ruling lineage.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="9">If <supplied reason="subaudible">he were</supplied> without <supplied reason="subaudible">= not under</supplied> Dhātr̥'s command, Vivasvān did <supplied reason="explanation">= would</supplied> not make / would not have made his rise, fearing the burning brilliance of this <supplied reason="subaudible">Sūryavarman</supplied>, such is my thinking.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="10">Setting up a lofty tower <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>prāsāda</foreign></supplied> of Glory, <gap reason="lost"/>, with his sword he hewed <supplied reason="explanation" cert="low">off? in two</supplied> the diademe of the enemy ruler and contructed a <supplied reason="subaudible">temple</supplied> mountain.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="11">With much effort, Rāma once constructed a bridge on one ocean, but he, who had smashed the heads of his enemies, without effort, <supplied reason="subaudible">constructed one out of these heads</supplied> on four oceans.</p>
285 <p rend="stanza" n="12">He who, having burnt down on all sides with the fires of his energy the heaps of forests of all enemies, sprinkled all directions with his his fame, as if with flame.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="13">The shatterer of unsaluting kings <supplied reason="subaudible">and: mountains</supplied>, to whom the ocean surely gave its depth, in order for Maināka to be protected.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="14">Who did not burn with his scorchings <gap reason="lost"/> of the enemies <gap reason="lost"/>, his power spread out <gap reason="lost"/>.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="15">He had a servant appointed <supplied reason="explanation" cert="low"><foreign>yuta</foreign></supplied> as ambassador in a far off city of the enemies, who, running like a horse, <gap reason="lost"/>.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="16">Born in a lineage famous and pure, full of valor, full of Dharma, with Adharma defeated, he was a frontal ornament to his lineage.</p>
290 <p rend="stanza" n="17">And having obtained, by the grace of the king, wealth in gold and jewels etc., he settled there the land Lakṣmīndrapada, a good city.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="18">In the East, <supplied reason="subaudible">he dug out</supplied> a very clear <supplied reason="subaudible">pond</supplied> with very clear water, and in the Southeast <gap reason="lost"/>; in the South a <supplied reason="subaudible">pond</supplied> called Kac Kvan, and in the Southwest a <supplied reason="subaudible">pond</supplied> called Cāmpaka.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="19">In the West a <supplied reason="subaudible">pond</supplied> called Stuk Kaṁval, and in the Northwest <supplied reason="subaudible">a pond</supplied> <gap reason="lost"/> ; in the North <gap reason="lost"/>; in the Northeast a small pond with murky water.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="20">To that intelligent man the king gave this land, with abundant <foreign>dharma</foreign> <gap reason="lost"/>.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="21">In Lakṣmīndrapadapurī, he installed a <foreign>liṅga</foreign> of Īśvara, his mind solely intent on devotion to Śiva, in the <supplied reason="subaudible">year indicated by 7</supplied> mountains, <supplied reason="subaudible">3/4</supplied> Vedas, <supplied reason="subaudible">9</supplied> orifices <supplied reason="subaudible">937/947</supplied> Śaka era.</p>
295 <p rend="stanza" n="22">An image of Hara was established by this wise man, as well as an image of Bhāratī, when he, full of mercy, dug out the Lakṣmīndra pond.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="23">He performed a Brahmayajña, aiming to to investigate all Śāstras. Of pure mind, he established a golden Liṅga in the lake.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="24">He, having a <foreign>dharma</foreign> that the good would choose, prepared the place <gap reason="lost"/> made in <supplied reason="subaudible">the image of</supplied> (?) the city of the gods <gap reason="lost"/> for Lakṣmīndrapada, <supplied reason="subaudible">a site</supplied> with good pavilions etc. He, who gave to the one asking for grain (???), also constructed for humans a bridge in beautiful Hari, a pious work <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>dharma</foreign></supplied> whose wealth consists in being divine (???).</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="25">He gave much wealth, starting with grain, gold, silver, together with copper, together with (?) slaves male and female, to that "Siva at Lakṣmīndrapada / to Śiva there in Lakṣmīndrapada, besides a buffalo with cattle and land, as well as jewelry.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="26">Those who would cause this pious work to thrive, let them go to that good destination, together with their relatives. But those who would destroy it, they <supplied reason="subaudible">shall</supplied> always remain in disappearance, up to <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>ā</foreign></supplied> <supplied reason="subaudible">the disappearance of</supplied> the moon and the sun.</p>
300 <p n="B3-B4">In <foreign>śaka</foreign> 946, milord Jaṅghāla presented a petition to his majesty My Holy High Lord of the matriline Śrī Sūryavarmadeva <gap reason="lost"/> family and the history of the tract of land in the district Siddhipura, which had been received as a royal benefice; [on which] land was settled, three gods were established, ponds were dug out. ...</p>
· <p n="B5">A royal charter assigned <supplied reason="subaudible">to him</supplied> the name Steṅ Añ Lakṣmīndrapaṇḍita. The land was called Lakṣmīndrapada, the pond was called Lakṣmīndrataṭāka.</p>
· <p n="B5-B6"><supplied reason="subaudible">The charter</supplied> designated the Khloñs <gap reason="lost"/> to be witnesses at the marking of the boundaries of the land which had been given by <supplied reason="subaudible">royal</supplied> benefice and which was offered to V.K.A. Śrī Bhadreśvara with the God Parameśvara and the God Sarasvatī.</p>
· <p n="B7-B8">As regards the land offered to the gods: from the foot of the wall of the god<supplied reason="subaudible">'s sanctuary</supplied> it extends to the south up to the pond Taladharmma; then it turns and extends to the pond Badarā and joins <gap reason="lost"/>. To the Southeast <supplied reason="subaudible">it extends</supplied> to the pond Surananda.</p>
· <p n="B8-B9">From the foot of the wall of the god<supplied reason="subaudible">'s sanctuary</supplied> northward it extends to the sacred Siddhipura / the god/sanctuary of Siddhipura; it turns and extends to the pond of that god; southwards <supplied reason="subaudible">it extends</supplied> <gap reason="lost"/> rice field <gap reason="lost"/> <foreign>leṅ</foreign>.</p>
305 <p n="B9">That is the way of the boundaring marking of that <supplied reason="subaudible">land</supplied>, so that the family <supplied reason="subaudible">of Lakṣmīndrapaṇḍita</supplied> would perform its royal tasks with that <supplied reason="subaudible">land</supplied>.</p>

Cāmpaka?</supplied> pond <gap reason="lost"/> west of that pond <gap reason="lost"/> two for the cooks (?) <gap reason="lost"/> north of that pond two for the leaf-makers; east of that pond <gap reason="lost"/> the orchestra <gap reason="lost"/> south <gap reason="lost"/> <foreign>nāta</foreign> that pond <gap reason="lost"/> with Jranyaṅ Trees <gap reason="lost"/> a dancer, two singers <gap reason="lost"/> inside the boundaries <gap reason="lost"/> near the Jranyaṅ <supplied reason="subaudible">tree</supplied> <gap reason="lost"/> a store/door opener, gaurdian(s) <gap reason="lost"/> read <gap reason="lost"/> south of it a three-headed [?], south of that an dining hall, south of that an offering hall <gap reason="lost"/>.</p>

315 <p rend="stanza" n="5">Resplendissante est Bhāratī <supplied reason="explanation">l'Eloquence</supplied>, dont le pied, se promenant sans cesse dans la bouche rougie des sages, brille sans avoir besoin de laque.</p>

320 <p rend="stanza" n="10">Edifiant <gap reason="lost"/> dans le combat la haute tour de sa gloire, après avoir tranché avec son épée la couronne du roi ennemi, il en a fait une montagne.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="11">Autrefois, Rāma a construit à grand peine une digue dans un unique océan, mais c'est sans effort que <supplied reason="subaudible">ce roi</supplied> en a construit dans quatre océans avec les têtes coupées de ses ennemis.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="12">Brûlant de toute part avec le feu de son énergie l'épaisse forêt de tous ses ennemis, il arrosait en quelque sorte avec l'eau de sa gloire toutes les régions de l'espace en feu.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="13">A lui qui a maintenant brisé les rois <supplied reason="subaudible">ou: les montagnes</supplied> qui refusaient de s'incliner devant lui, l'océan a donné la profondeur pour défendre le mont Maināka.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="14">Par son éclat brûlant <gap reason="lost"/> des ennemis <gap reason="lost"/> son énergie répandue dans <gap reason="lost"/> les gens se nourrissant bien.</p>
325 <p rend="stanza" n="15">Il eut un serviteur fidèle, envoyé au loin dans une ville ennemie qui, rapide comme un coursier <gap reason="lost"/>.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="16">Né dans une famille célèbre et parfaitement pure, valeureux, adonné au bien, vainqueur du mal, il Hait l'ornement de sa lignée.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="17">Ayant obtenu de la faveur royale des biens consistant en or, gemmes, etc., ainsi qu'une terre, il a installé ici la bonne ville de Lakṣmīndrapada.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="18">A l'est, une pièce d'eau claire, au sud-est <gap reason="lost"/> au sud <supplied reason="subaudible">le pays</supplied> nommé Kac Kvan, au sud-ouest <supplied reason="subaudible">le pays</supplied> nommé Cāmpaka.</p>

· <p rend="stanza" n="24">Possédant un bon et éminent dharma, il a décoré, à l'instar de la cité des dieux, le site de Lakṣmīndrapada pourvu d'un beau pavillon, et autres ornements ; dans la charmante ville de Haripura, il a construit aussi une digue, qui est pour les hommes ce qu'est le dharma, richesse de la condition divine, et il a donné les deux sortes de grains aux solliciteurs.</p>
335 <p rend="stanza" n="25">Dans ce Lakṣmīndrapada, il a donné à Śiva quantité de biens : grains, or, argent, cuivre, esclaves des deux sexes, bœufs, terres, buffles, joyaux.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="26">Puissent ceux qui feront prospérer cette fondation, obtenir avec leurs parents une condition heureuse, mais puissent ceux qui la ruineraient demeurer sans cesse dans la condition animale, aussi longtemps que le soleil et la lune.</p>
· <p n="B3-B4">En 946 <foreign>śaka</foreign>, Steṅ An Jaṅghāla présenta une requête à S.M. Śrī Sūryavarmadeva <supplied reason="subaudible">au sujet de</supplied> sa lignée et de l'historique des terres du pays de Siddhipura, obtenues de la faveur royale, où il avait fondé un village, érigé trois dieux, creusé une pièce d'eau <gap reason="lost"/>.</p>
· <p n="B5-B6">Une ordonnance royale conféra au Steṅ Añ le nom de Śrī Lakṣmīndrapaṇḍita, au village le nom de Lakṣmīndrapada et à la pièce d'eau le nom de Lakṣmīndrataṭāka, et chargea les Khloñ <gap reason="lost"/> d'être témoins lors de la délimitation de la terre reçue de la faveur royale et offerte à V.K.A.
