Commentary
The name appears to consist of māyalūru and the suffix -nṟu. The first element probably contains ūru ’village’ as the second member. To this day there is at least one village with the name Māyalūru (to the west from Ahobilam). The personal name is one of the comparatively few instances in which the first element and the suffix -nṟu form a tatpuruṣa: ’the one of/from Māyalūru’.
