35 <p>This inscription, engraved on three plates—the last bearing writing only on the inner side—is dated in the 5th year of the reign of the <hi rend="bold">Chōḷa</hi> king <hi rend="bold">Rājakēsarivarman</hi> (identified with Rājarāja I) and registers gifts of lands made by the chief <hi rend="bold">Kollimaḻavaṉ Oṟṟiyūraṉ Piradigaṇḍavarman</hi>, to the temple of <hi rend="bold">Paramēśvara</hi> of the sacred <hi rend="bold">Mūlasthāna</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Tūśiyūr</hi>. Boundaries of the lands granted are furnished in detail and therein figure <hi rend="bold">Kaṉṉāḍu</hi>, the dams called <hi rend="bold">Pūnāṟṟu-aṇai</hi> and <hi rend="bold">Kallōḍu-aṇai</hi>, the tanks <hi rend="bold">Śūḷai-kuḷam</hi> also known as <hi rend="bold">Kāndaḷēri, Tāmaraikkuḷam</hi> and <hi rend="bold">Kaṟṟaḷi-ēri</hi> also named <hi rend="bold">Pudukkuḷam</hi>, the temple of <hi rend="bold">Tāṉtōṉṟipirāṉ, Mūkkuṟukkā, Kaṭṭināgaṉkūval-iṭṭēr</hi> and <hi rend="bold">Kaṇavadinallūr</hi>, otherwise called <hi rend="bold">Amaṇkuḍi</hi>.</p>
·
· <p><hi rend="italic">Kaṉṉāḍu (kal-nāḍu</hi>) which occurs more than once in this inscription refers evidently to hero-stones which are stated in ancient Tamiḻ literature, as having been put up with great ceremony in honour of persons who had done valorous deeds in guarding their country and given up their lives in that cause. Being associated with the word <foreign>peruvarampu</foreign> it may even be an engraver's mistake for <hi rend="italic">kaṇṇāṟṟu</hi>.</p>
·
· <p>Traces of writing found in lines 13, 28, 29, 30 and 33 indicate that the present inscription is a palimpsest.</p>
40 <p>It is not possible to identify the places mentioned in this inscription.</p>
