· <p>Hail ! Prosperity ! In the 3rd year of (<hi rend="italic">the reign of</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndrādivarman</hi> who took the head of <hi rend="bold">Vīra-Pāṇḍya</hi>, we (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the assembly of <hi rend="bold">Uttaramēlūr-chaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">a village</hi>) in its own subdivision in <hi rend="bold">Kāliyūrkōṭṭam</hi> wrote (<hi rend="italic">thus):</hi>—The land given for the maintenance of worship (<hi rend="italic">archanābhōga</hi>) and for sacred offerings of (<hi rend="italic">the goddess</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Jyēshṭhā</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Kumaṇpāḍi</hi> of our village (<hi rend="italic">is as follows):</hi>—408 (<hi rend="italic">kuḻi</hi>) of first rate (<hi rend="italic">land</hi>) in the third square (<hi rend="italic">śadukkam</hi>) to the west of (<hi rend="italic">the path called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Kōla-vadi</hi> in the fourth <hi rend="italic">kaṇṇāṟu . . . . . (situated</hi>) south of the high-level channel (<hi rend="italic">mugaṭṭu-kāl</hi>); 480 <hi rend="italic">kuḻi</hi> of (<hi rend="italic">the lane called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Subrahmaṇya-nārāśam</hi>; and to the north of this, first rate (<hi rend="italic">land) (measuring</hi>) 260 <hi rend="italic">kuḻi</hi> in the ninth square to the south of the path leading straight to the <hi rend="bold">Kāvaṉūr</hi> tank, in the eighteenth <hi rend="italic">kaṇṇāṟu</hi>. We, (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the great assembly, exempted (<hi rend="italic">all</hi>) this land from tax and declared it tax-free. We, (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the great assembly, having received <hi rend="italic">pūrvāchāram</hi> from Māyilaṭṭi declared (<hi rend="italic">the land</hi>) tax-free. Those who cause obstruction (<hi rend="italic">to this</hi>) shall incur the sins of those who commit (<hi rend="italic">sinful acts</hi>) between <hi rend="bold">Gaṅgā</hi> (the Ganges) and <hi rend="bold">Kumari</hi> (Cape Comorin).</p>
