35 <p>This is a similar gift made again in the 3rd year of <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndra Ādityavarman</hi> who took the head of <hi rend="bold">Vīra-Pāṇḍya</hi>, to the temples of <hi rend="bold">Tiruvāyppāḍi</hi> and <hi rend="bold">Tiruvuṉṉiyūr</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Uttaramēru-chaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>. The usual <hi rend="italic">pūrvāchāram</hi> was given by <hi rend="bold">Śandiraṉ Eḻunūṟṟuvaṉ</hi> <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Nuḷamba Māyilaṭṭi</hi>. The name of the king <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndra-Ādityavarman</hi>, while it undoubtedly refers to <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndravarman</hi>, may establish the king's possible connexion with the <hi rend="bold">Chōla Ādityavarman</hi> (<hi rend="italic">i.e.</hi>, <hi rend="bold">Āditya</hi> II.).</p>

In the 3rd year (<hi rend="italic">of the reign</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndra-Ādityavarman</hi>, who took the head of <hi rend="bold">Vīra-Pāṇḍya</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">this is</hi>) the writing of us (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the great assembly of <hi rend="bold">Uttaramēru-chaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">a village</hi>) in its own subdivision in <hi rend="bold">Kāliyūr-kōṭṭam</hi>.</p>

Having received <hi rend="italic">pūrvāchāram</hi> from <hi rend="bold">Śandiraṉ Eḻunūṟṟuvaṉ</hi> <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Nuḷamba Māyilaṭṭi</hi> for (<hi rend="italic">these</hi>) lands and agreeing that we shall not show on these lands any kind of (<hi rend="italic">tax), iṟai, echchōṟu, veṭṭi</hi> and <hi rend="italic">amañji</hi> we (<hi rend="italic">the members of the assembly</hi>) gave (<hi rend="italic">them to these temples</hi>) exempting (<hi rend="italic">them</hi>) from taxes for all time till the moon and the sun exist. From those who violate this and show (<hi rend="italic">these lands</hi>) as taxable, the temple servants (<hi rend="italic">dēvaraḍiyār</hi>) shall themselves collect a fine of twenty-five <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of gold to be credited to the court of justice whenever demanded.</p>

Those who oppose this charity shall incur the sins of those who have committed (<hi rend="italic">sins</hi>) between <hi rend="bold">Gaṅgā</hi> (the Ganges) and <hi rend="bold">Kumari</hi> (Cape Comorin). We (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the great assembly have (<hi rend="italic">thus</hi>) settled this grant.
