Summary: This is a similar gift made again in the 3rd year of Pārthivēndra Ādityavarman who took the head of Vīra-Pāṇḍya, to the temples of Tiruvāyppāḍi and Tiruvuṉṉiyūr in Uttaramēru-chaturvēdimaṅgalam. The usual pūrvāchāram was given by Śandiraṉ Eḻunūṟṟuvaṉ alias Nuḷamba Māyilaṭṭi. The name of the king Pārthivēndra-Ādityavarman, while it undoubtedly refers to Pārthivēndravarman, may establish the king's possible connexion with the Chōla Ādityavarman (i.e., Āditya II.).

(Line 1.) Hail ! Prosperity ! In the 3rd year (of the reign) of Pārthivēndra-Ādityavarman, who took the head of Vīra-Pāṇḍya, (this is) the writing of us (the members) of the great assembly of Uttaramēru-chaturvēdimaṅgalam, (a village) in its own subdivision in Kāliyūr-kōṭṭam.

(L. 2.) The (following) lands were given to the god (perumāṉaḍigaḷ) of Tiruvāyppāḍi of our village for the sacred current expenses (tiruchchaṉṉaḍai), sacred lamp, śrībali and archchanābhōga:—202 kuḻi of first rate areca-land (kamugu) in the fifth square (śadukkam) west of (the path called) Avanināraṇa-vadi, in the sixth kaṇṇāṟu, south of (the path called) Vayiramēga-vadi; 480 kuḻi of first rate (land) in the second square (śadukkam) west of (the path called) Avanināraṇa-vadi in the seventh kaṇṇāṟu in the same place; 820 kuḻi of first rate (land) in the first and second squares east of (the path called) Viḍēlviḍugu-vadi of the fourth kaṇṇāṟu, south of (the path called) Vayiramēgavadi; altogether, one thousand five hundred and two (kuḻi) of land equivalent to . . . . .¹ of land. (Again) four hundred and eighty kuḻi equivalent to . .² of first rate land in the third square (śadukkam) west of (the path called) Paramēśvaravadi in the fourteenth kaṇṇāṟu, north of (the lane called) Subramaṇya-nārāśam, which was given in the name of “the five hundred” (ainūṟṟuvar)³ by the arbitrator (madhyasthaṉ) Alaṅkāramitraṉ for the sacred current expenses (in the temple) of the god at Tiruvuṉṉiyūr; together . . . . . .⁴ of land. Having received pūrvāchāram from Śandiraṉ Eḻunūṟṟuvaṉ alias Nuḷamba Māyilaṭṭi for (these) lands and agreeing that we shall not show on these lands any kind of (tax), iṟai, echchōṟu, veṭṭi and amañji we (the members of the assembly) gave (them to these temples) exempting (them) from taxes for all time till the moon and the sun exist. From those who violate this and show (these lands) as taxable, the temple servants (dēvaraḍiyār) shall themselves collect a fine of twenty-five kaḻañju of gold to be credited to the court of justice whenever demanded.

(L. 8.) Those who oppose this charity shall incur the sins of those who have committed (sins) between Gaṅgā (the Ganges) and Kumari (Cape Comorin). We (the members) of the great assembly have (thus) settled this grant. I, madhyasthaṉ Śivadāsaṉ Āyiratteṇṇūṟṟuva⁵ Brahmapriyaṉ, wrote (this) under the orders of the assembly. Prosperity !

<p>(Line 1.) Hail ! Prosperity ! In the 3rd year (<hi rend="italic">of the reign</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Pārthivēndra-Ādityavarman</hi>, who took the head of <hi rend="bold">Vīra-Pāṇḍya</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">this is</hi>) the writing of us (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the great assembly of <hi rend="bold">Uttaramēru-chaturvēdimaṅgalam</hi>, (<hi rend="italic">a village</hi>) in its own subdivision in <hi rend="bold">Kāliyūr-kōṭṭam</hi>.</p>

<p>(L. 2.) The (<hi rend="italic">following</hi>) lands were given to the god (<hi rend="italic">perumāṉaḍigaḷ</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Tiruvāyppāḍi</hi> of our village for the sacred current expenses (<hi rend="italic">tiruchchaṉṉaḍai</hi>), sacred lamp, <hi rend="italic">śrībali</hi> and <hi rend="italic">archchanābhōga:</hi>—202 <hi rend="italic">kuḻi</hi> of first rate areca-land (<hi rend="italic">kamugu</hi>) in the fifth square (<hi rend="italic">śadukkam</hi>) west of (<hi rend="italic">the path called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Avanināraṇa-vadi</hi>, in the sixth <hi rend="italic">kaṇṇāṟu</hi>, south of (<hi rend="italic">the path called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Vayiramēga-vadi</hi>; 480 <hi rend="italic">kuḻi</hi> of first rate (<hi rend="italic">land</hi>) in the second square (<hi rend="italic">śadukkam</hi>) west of (<hi rend="italic">the path called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Avanināraṇa-vadi</hi> in the seventh <hi rend="italic">kaṇṇāṟu</hi> in the same place; 820 <hi rend="italic">kuḻi</hi> of first rate (<hi rend="italic">land</hi>) in the first and second squares east of (<hi rend="italic">the path called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Viḍēlviḍugu-vadi</hi> of the fourth <hi rend="italic">kaṇṇāṟu</hi>, south of (<hi rend="italic">the path called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Vayiramēgavadi</hi>; altogether, one thousand five hundred and two (<hi rend="italic">kuḻi</hi>) of land equivalent to . . . . .<note>Expressed by symbols.</note> of land. Having received <hi rend="italic">pūrvāchāram</hi> from <hi rend="bold">Śandiraṉ Eḻunūṟṟuvaṉ</hi> <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Nuḷamba Māyilaṭṭi</hi> for (<hi rend="italic">these</hi>) lands and agreeing that we shall not show on these lands any kind of (<hi rend="italic">tax), iṟai, echchōṟu, veṭṭi</hi> and <hi rend="italic">amañji</hi> we (<hi rend="italic">the members of the assembly</hi>) gave (<hi rend="italic">them to these temples</hi>) exempting (<hi rend="italic">them</hi>) from taxes for all time till the moon and the sun exist. From those who violate this and show (<hi rend="italic">these lands</hi>) as taxable, the temple servants (<hi rend="italic">dēvaraḍiyār</hi>) shall themselves collect a fine of twenty-five <hi rend="italic">kaḻañju</hi> of gold to be credited to the court of justice whenever demanded.</p>

<p>(L. 8.) Those who oppose this charity shall incur the sins of those who have committed (<hi rend="italic">sins</hi>) between <hi rend="bold">Gaṅgā</hi> (the Ganges) and <hi rend="bold">Kumari</hi> (Cape Comorin). We (<hi rend="italic">the members</hi>) of the great assembly have (<hi rend="italic">thus</hi>) settled this grant.
