35 <p>This record which is dated in the 24th year of <hi rend="bold">Parāntaka</hi> I. registers a gift of land for a lamp by a temple-woman of <hi rend="bold">Jayabhīmataḷi</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Tañjāvūr</hi>, in the presence of king <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman. Jayabhīmataḷi</hi>, as the name of a temple in Tanjore, occurs in one of the inscriptions of the Bṛihadīśvara temple<note>Above Vol. II, No. <ref target="DHARMA_INSSIIv02p0i0066.xml">66</ref>, p. 292.</note> which registers the gift, of service-women to that temple, by <hi rend="bold">Rājarāja</hi> I.</p>

· <p>Hail ! Prosperity ! In the 24th year of (<hi rend="italic">the reign of</hi>) <hi rend="bold">king Parakēsarivarman</hi>, who took <hi rend="bold">Madirai</hi> (Madura), <hi rend="bold">Nakkaṉ Śandirādēvi</hi> (<hi rend="italic">attached to the temple</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Jayabhīmataḷi</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Tañjāvūr</hi> gave in the presence of king <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi> for burning regularly with (<hi rend="italic">one) uḻakku</hi> of oil (<hi rend="italic">one</hi>) perpetual lamp placed (<hi rend="italic">by her</hi>) in (<hi rend="italic">the temple of</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Mahādēva</hi> (<hi rend="italic">Śiva</hi>) at <hi rend="bold">Tirukkarugāvūr</hi>, two <hi rend="italic">mā</hi> of land to the south of the field for sacred lamp granted by <hi rend="bold">Āvūr-nāṭṭu Vēḷār</hi> at <hi rend="bold">Vaḍavūr-Veṇgāḍu</hi>, two <hi rend="italic">mā (of land</hi>) to the west of this (<hi rend="italic">land</hi>), the mound to the south of (<hi rend="italic">the channel called</hi>) <hi rend="bold">Uḷvāykkāl</hi> and the enclosed field of the mound which has been made cultivable. Receiving all these lands, one perpetual lamp shall be burnt as long as the moon and the sun (<hi rend="italic">last). (The assembly of</hi>) all <hi rend="italic">Māhēśvaras</hi> shall protect this (<hi rend="italic">charity</hi>).</p>
