35 <p>This inscription is dated in the 3rd year of <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi> and registers a gift of gold by a certain <hi rend="bold">Gaṇḍarāditta Pallavaraiyaṉ</hi> to the temple at <hi rend="bold">Tiruvāmāttūr</hi>, which was a <hi rend="italic">dēvadāna</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Mīvaḻi-Vāvalūr-nāḍu</hi>, a subdivision of <hi rend="bold">Aruvānāḍu</hi>. <hi rend="bold">Gaṇḍarāditta Pallavaraiyaṉ</hi> was evidently an officer of <hi rend="bold">Gaṇḍarāditya</hi> who is known from copper-plate records to have been the second son of king Parāntaka I. <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman</hi> of this record may have, therefore, to be identified with Parāntaka I.</p>

· <p>Hail ! Prosperity ! In the 3rd year of (<hi rend="italic">the reign of</hi>) king <hi rend="bold">Parakēsarivarman, Parabūmigaṉ Mallaṉ</hi> <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> <hi rend="bold">Gaṇḍarāditta Pallavaraiyaṉ</hi>, the chief of <hi rend="bold">Kaṟpūṇḍināḍu</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Muṭṭa-nāḍu</hi> deposited ten gold (<hi rend="italic">poṉ) (coins</hi>) for burning as long as the moon and the sun (<hi rend="italic">endure</hi>) one perpetual lamp which (<hi rend="italic">he</hi>) had placed in (<hi rend="italic">the temple of</hi>) the lord of <hi rend="bold">Tiruvāmāttūr</hi> (<hi rend="italic">which was</hi>) a <hi rend="italic">dēvadāna</hi> in <hi rend="bold">Mīvaḻi-Vāvalūr-nāḍu</hi> (<hi rend="italic">a subdivision</hi>) of <hi rend="bold">Aruvā-nāḍu</hi>. The (<hi rend="italic">members of the</hi>) assembly, the villagers (<hi rend="italic">ūr</hi>) and the temple servants (<hi rend="italic">dēvarkaṉmi</hi>) shall protect this gold paid (<hi rend="italic">by the donor). (The assembly of</hi>) all <hi rend="italic">Māheśvaras</hi> shall protect (<hi rend="italic">this charity</hi>).</p>
