Commentary
According to ARIE 1909-1910, p. 30, the inscription is in archaic characters and “[r]ecords that the much worn image at the top of the slab was caused to be made by the king,” while “[t]he image itself, perhaps, represents Piridiviviḍa[ṅga]-kurati.” Mahalingam 1988 dates the inscription to the 6th century and notes: “The inscription is engraved below the stated image of a goddess flanked by a lamp and canopied by an umbrella.”
