Translation by Emmanuel Francis

(1) Prosperity! Fortune!

(1–3) Seventeenth year of the victorious king Kampavikkiramaparumaṉ.1

(4–12) The pious act that Pṛthiyaṅkaraiyar, the lord of this province/region (nāṭu) and his wife Ilāṭapperuntēviyār, both of them, did for their venerable son Ayyakkuṭṭi: a canal (āṟṟu-k-kāl2) which feeds (kaṇṭa3) the lake/tank of Valivalakkamaṅkalam.

(12–13) This canal (ik-kāl) is [named after/owned by] Viḻuppērararaiyaṉ.

(13–15) This pious act (id-dhammam, that is, id-dharmam), the feet of its protector are above my head.

Commentary

Note on "venerable son Ayyakkuṭṭi". Could be "venerable daughter". Cf. EI.

Note on Pṛthiyaṅkaraiyar = Pṛthivīgaṅga. Cf. EI for discussion and identification of people mentioned.
