<p>The inscription is incomplete. It appears to be a later copy (11th century?) of an original Pallava inscription.<ptr target="bib:Mahalingam1988_01"/> notes: <quote>Continuation is lost. It is engraved in characters of the 11 th century A.D. The stone bearing this record must have belonged originally to a temple of Viṣṇu (<hi rend="italic">Tirumēṟṟaḷi-Aḍigaḷ</hi>) in the village and was probably shifted here at some later time.</quote> and <quote>The name Avaṉinārāyaṇa-caturvēdimaṅgalam must have been given to Kāvidipākkam after the surname of <hi rend="italic">Avaṉinārāyaṇa</hi> borne by Nandivarman III.</quote></p>
