· <p rend="stanza" n="2">Kali, ayant conquis le monde rongé par le faisceau des ruses du péché, la détresse, mère du mal, s'accrut. Pour la briser, Brahmā a fait descendre du ciel sur la terre Śiva et Viṣṇu en qualité de roi.</p>
· <p rend="stanza" n="3">Sur ce sol divin qu'est l'ascension de la lignée des rois est né, pour porter le sceptre de la terre jusqu'à l'océan, <supplied reason="subaudible">un homme</supplied>, portion de Śiva et de Viṣṇu, à la gloire pure, possédant toutes les qualités, ayant dans son aspect la blancheur de la Vertu, éloquent, portant les signes de l'amitié d'Indra, souverain né, maître de lui-même.</p>

· <p rend="stanza" n="2">Surely <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>kila</foreign></supplied> when Kali <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>kalau</foreign></supplied> reached <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>prāpte</foreign></supplied> the world <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>jagat</foreign></supplied>, which was licked by a mass of tricks/aspects/parts of evil <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>kalaṅkakalākalāpalīḍham</foreign></supplied>, a disastrous condition because of evil- doers <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>duritakārivipad</foreign></supplied> grew and grew <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>vivṛddhā</foreign></supplied>; in order to break that <supplied reason="subaudible">Kali</supplied> <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>tadbhañjanāt</foreign></supplied>, Brahmā <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>kajabhavaḥ</foreign></supplied> caused Śiva and Viṣṇu <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>dhūrjaṭipaṅkajākṣau</foreign></supplied> to descend <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>avatārayati sma</foreign></supplied> from heaven <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>svaḥ</foreign></supplied> down to earth <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>bhuvi</foreign></supplied> to a condition of kingship <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>rājabhūyam</foreign></supplied>.</p>
